Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome is said to refer to a fault in the gut-brain connection by some and related to stress, per other sources. IBS is said to have no definite diagnosis or cure, though there are medical protocols that attempt to address the situation. Hypnotherapy has been found to be an effective mode of treatment. We follow a multi-session, gut-directed hypnotherapy protocol for addressing IBS. To keep costs low, we work with a combination of recorded and live hypnotherapy sessions.
IBS symptoms may include one of more of the following:
- stomach pain or cramps
- bloating
- diarrhea
- constipation
Additionally, IBS symptoms could also include:
- farting
- passing mucus from your bottom
- tiredness and a lack of energy
- nausea
- backache
- problems peeing (like needing to pee often, sudden urges to pee, and feeling like you cannot fully empty your bladder)
- bowel incontinence
Unless otherwise specified, all prices mentioned are for a single session. The complete course may require more than a single session depending on individual circumstances. All sessions include a 15 minute follow up session, free of cost, one week onward. If you require multiple sessions, please speak with us about a discount, which we’re happy to extend to you, if you’re booking / paying in advance.
- Abdominal pain or discomfort: This is usually a cramping or bloating sensation that is often relieved by passing gas or having a bowel movement.
- Diarrhea, constipation, or a combination of both: IBS can cause changes in bowel habits, ranging from loose, watery stools to hard, pellet-like stools.
- Gas and bloating: Individuals with IBS may experience excess gas and bloating, which can be uncomfortable or embarrassing.
- Mucus in the stool: Some individuals with IBS may notice mucus in their stool, which is a normal component of the digestive system.
- Abnormal muscle contractions in the colon: This can cause the muscles to contract too strongly or too weakly, leading to changes in bowel habits.
- Nervous system dysfunction: The nerves that control the muscles of the colon may be overly sensitive, leading to increased sensitivity to certain foods or stress.
- Gut microbiome imbalance: Disruptions in the balance of bacteria in the gut may contribute to IBS symptoms.
- Dietary changes: Avoiding trigger foods, such as high-fat or spicy foods, and increasing fiber intake may help alleviate symptoms.
- Stress management: Relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or meditation, may help reduce stress and improve symptoms.
- Medications: Antispasmodics, laxatives, and other medications may be prescribed to manage symptoms.
- Probiotics: Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that can help restore balance to the gut microbiome and improve symptoms.
